I'm not sure if we are going to be able to find anything reasonable for me because of my weight.

In the meantime, we are going to get Freesia insured as soon as possible. I'm hoping that if she doesn't qualify for medicaid then she will qualify for peachcare.

As for myself and Chris, I'm perfectly fine putting the money we would have spent on a premium in the bank. At least then we actually can put our hands on it instead of hoping the charges will be covered.

Well, I thought I would be talking about other things, but I need to go.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-21056598961887287442007-06-01T08:24:00.000-04:002007-06-01T08:36:48.856-04:00Whew, I didn't think it could get worseBut have you ever been woken out of a sound sleep by a screaming baby at six in the morning. A screaming toddler, rather, who won't quiet down and won't shut up for everything. I finally gave her some children's tylenol after seeing her chewing on her fist and she laid herself down on the couch and quieted down.

Talk about being shocked out of sleep. Freesia hasn't done something like that in so long, I thought I was having a weird dream at first.

This mommy gig is starting to get rough.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-76577306296945732632007-05-30T09:55:00.000-04:002007-05-30T10:02:51.005-04:00Watching the news this morningFor once, I managed to catch the news this morning, and what I found out disgusted me. They are making a reality/game show called The Donor Show. Basically, they are making entertainment out of who gets donor organs. Very Bachmanesque for those of use who remember the novella Running Man.

It just floored me. What's next? Blood sport after 10 pm on the networks? I haven't been able to blog in awhile, but when I saw this, I knew I had to make time. There are things you just have to say no against.

Anyway, that's all for now. If anyone is wondering why I'm suddenly so busy--we are trying to potty train Freesia. It's not going well, and I try to watch her constantly.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-54042055333270720932007-05-23T11:06:00.000-04:002007-05-23T11:12:27.318-04:00Wow, it's been awhile! And I've not got the time to really blog like I want to. Freesia is teething and potty training. She also has begun to get up incredibly early. With the days heating up, we take our walk in the mornings now. All of this combines to make a running turtle, let me tell you.

More later.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-54311026621316123102007-04-09T11:01:00.000-04:002007-04-09T11:20:15.900-04:00Novella newsSo, with Aimee's help and some drastic cutting, my word count is about the same at the end of the first edit. And I did cut almost 51oo words. So you can see how much got put back in. Basically, I just condensed some of the subplots into the main plot.

Now with the first edit done, several strangers (mainly through critters.org) are critiquing my novel. So now, its a waiting game. Once the critiques come in, and I make sure they get their credits, I'm going to take a break before reading and using them. I have plans to ask Aimee to reread it after the second edit, which will be based on those critiques. I'm planning on some more streamlining if possible.

I've been keeping everything I've taken out in case it needs to go back in, but mostly as ideas for other stories. I took out complete subplots in some cases, and I didn't want to get rid of them all together.

Well, that's about it on the novel. I'm thinking about starting on another story, probably this afternoon.

Well, that's all in writing news.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-81221996039429795452007-03-31T09:18:00.000-04:002007-03-31T09:39:36.929-04:00So phone calls have been made ...... and the spawn's b-day celeb is underway. We will be cooking out and having cake and ice cream in about three weeks. Freesia doesn't seem to understand what's going on, but that's all right.

In the meantime, we need to put together a Easter/Eostara basket. We are certainly late for Eostara (Spring Equinox) but it seems strange to be celebrating it when everyone else around us will be celebrating Easter just a couple of weeks later. Especially, since the two holidays are so similar. Indeed, Easter's observance is determined by when Eostara is; it is the only Christain observance determined by the lunar and solar calendar.

However, we will be observing Beltane this year. Probably with a fire and another barbecue, except with just the farm residencts. How could we live on a farm and not observe the major fertility ritual of our religion?

Anyway, enough religious stuff. I'm waiting on a friend of mine to get back to me about her copy edit/critique of my novel. I have someone lined up from critters.org to take a look at it. But I'm hoping for at least one more person to look at it. If I don't get anymore volunteers from critters.org, I'll be posting on www.nanopubye.org to find someone who might be interested in critiquing my novella in exchange for me critiquing their novel/la.

In other news, if carefully watched, Freesia no longer eats crayons. Yeah me, cause that means I can color with her :D.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-89630721761824358512007-03-24T10:18:00.000-04:002007-03-24T10:51:13.225-04:00Stuff and the things are piling upSo I've been editing my novella as often as possible, but I may have to ask Chris to make some sort of allowance for me so I can finish before April. I've got a call for dedicated readers going out for critters.org and I'm hoping to get a few more people to read it all the way through.

My friend, SheWhoReads, has read half of it and is going to read the rest, and she has really helped. There's only so much editing you can do with the door closed. Aside from that, I'm also taking out several side plots that don't have anything to do with the main plot.

It's all starting to come together. Now I just need to inflict it on a couple of complete strangers.

In other news, I just finished King's Dark Tower series. May I just say:

All Hail the King
A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-78709858162822812892007-02-28T10:16:00.000-05:002007-02-28T10:51:56.240-05:00Whale porn?Wow, I haven't posted in awhile. I've been so busy trying to keep up with Freesia and housework that I haven't actually spent as much time online as I usually do. Nor have I spent as much time knitting as I've meant to.

Mostly I've been reading--I finally found the local library. Very nice little place, about the size of our trailer with all the walls knocked out. But the librarians are helpful enough when it comes to finding or getting books in.

As for the whale porn reference, we've been watching a documentary on the life of mammals. Very nice one. It shows these blue whales in a breeding frenzy. In the first part of the ritual, the female plays a little hard to get, and the whales around her reach out with their tentacle like penises and poke her in the vagina as she tries to get away while swimming on the surface. Then after she's had enough of this she dives and lets them gangbang her.

When I say tentacle like penis, I do mean that. They thrust out and sort of wave around out of the water until they find the vaginal opening. Their ejaculate is measured in quarts. And as I'm sitting there watching this with my husband, I can't help but say in a questioning voice, "Whale porn?"

This of course is quite funny to the tribble that is my hubby. There are few other instances where they show animals mating, and at each one, it was "blank porn?"

Let's just say it was funny, and I don't think you really had to be there to get it. So there.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-63927265769135442712007-02-02T11:12:00.000-05:002007-02-02T11:33:15.191-05:00Weather and small childrenIt's been raining here about once a week, but for some reason, yesterday was the worse. I think it was because Chris hasn't been feeling well. Thankfully, Freesia hasn't caught what ever it was, and as always I only got the stomach portion of the show.

Freesia is going a little house crazy. I'll be glad to get to the library today so she can at least get out a bit. Also, I need to get out myself. There is just something about the farm that grates after awhile.

I'm thinking of putting up some flyers in Butler about maybe getting together a play group for Freesia. Also, I would love to get a knitting group started. I'm going to ask around at the library today to find out if they have any info on it.

Hopefully, this will be something that will get both Freesia and I out of the house.

P.S., there are new pictures up in our public gallery--check out the latest album for the ravioli smeared umpalumpa baby.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-23583413252395533872007-01-24T13:16:00.000-05:002007-01-29T11:18:26.358-05:00100th post!Well, I'm back, again. Still behind on editing my novel, but my shawl is coming along, and I've finished my dad's socks and a pair of mittens for Freesia. Pictures of the last two items along with new pictures of Freesia will be going up at the photo album soon.

We've also gotten the webcam and the microphone up and working. And I'm seriously thinking about podcasting and what a pain it would be on a dial up. Maybe once we get our credit cards paid we'll pick up a cable modem or something.

On the other hand, I've been thinking about this being my 100th post and thought that I might try one of those "100 things about me" memes.

100 things about me:

I am a mother.

I am a knitter.

I root for the underdog, especially against defined authority figures. Everytime, whether I'm right or not.

I am nonpartisan as far as my voting is concerned.

I believe in the death penalty and abortion. According to my religion, both are the same.

I am anxious to get pregnant again, especially since I'm over thirty.

I feel selfish when I buy for myself, so I have to have an allowance so I can buy stuff for my hobbies.

I don't wear make up.

I don't wear clothing unless I have to. I like to call myself an indoor nudist. When I was thinner, I would go topless at festivals.

I like breastfeeding my daughter. It isn't any sort of sexual thrill, it's the closeness. I feel like she's listening as I talk to her, which is a switch from how I feel when she's into everything in the house.

I am a fundamentally lazy person about everything but knitting.

I strive to be a Knitter, but I still haven't finished an actual fitted garment other than socks or mittens.

I hate commericals.

I love Stephen King novels.

I dislike movie and television spoofs.

I hate any movie that Adam Sandler has ever been in. I think he should have stuck to songwriting.

I dislike the "movie actor" Martin Lawrence. He was much funnier when he had his own TV show and was doing stand up.

My taste in movies is almost diametrically opposed to my father's. This is the reason I spend almost some of every visit hiding in their kitchen.

I think Russel Crowe looks like my husband, and that is the explanation I gave Chris as to why I have a crush on him. (Russell Crowe and Chris actually do look a lot a like, at least until Chris started on his thirties paunch.)

I like my husband's love handles.

I like being fat myself. I don't have to wear fashionable clothes, only comfortable ones.

I don't diet, but I do eat sensibly.

I try not to put on more weight instead of concentrating on losing it.

As much as I love my mother, I also acknowledge that putting me on a 1000 calorie diet when I was twelve, then again at thirteen, again at fourteen, then again when I was sixteen, may have stunted my height and messed up my metabolism.

I will never starve my daughter.

I will never let my daughter starve herself.

I rarely knit for myself.

I love to spin, but haven't had the time since we moved because of the baby and we are still unpacking.

I hate the war in Iraq, but not the soldiers there.

I dislike people on general principal. This doesn't include people I consider to be family.

I've been holding this post for two days trying to think up more things to put here, but can't. I just don't have 100 things of interest about me, I think.

So it goes up, unfinished. Gee, a lot like life, huh!
A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-19428340441333809052007-01-11T10:50:00.000-05:002007-01-11T11:07:32.633-05:00Delurks and stuffSo someone told me this was National De-Lurking Week. If you would like to comment and let me know you read this, please feel free.

I know I haven't written here lately. Chris is gone more often then not nowadays. I'm so far behind on housework because of Freesia and her tandrums that I've been concentrating just on the kitchen. I think she's having problems because every time the living room is cleaned it changes.

However, I have gotten my dad's socks done, just a couple of weeks late. I'll be getting in touch with him later today about whether he wants them mailed or just given next time we see him. I'm currently working on my shawl. I'll be posting a link to the pattern once it's done.

In other news, Aimee (aka SheWhoReads) has sent me an invitation to a game called LOST. Basically, you are given points for how many people you can convince to join, and if you are one of the top ten scorers you can win a prize. The basic premise as stated by the website is:

"LOST is a student project. The aim of LOST is to show how 7 million people
connect to one another, and break the record for the game with the most players
ever! LOST enables you to interact with people across the world, and see how you
are linked to them."
If you would like to help along my point total, just click here. After completing a profile, your position is marked on a map, and I can see where all my readers are :D.

Aside from playing around with this sort of thing, I haven't gotten much editing done on my NaNovel this month. I still have time, but I'm pushing it. <sigh>A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-75121474155677442532006-12-29T11:43:00.000-05:002006-12-29T11:50:35.389-05:00Chris gone again, but Aimee is here.Hello everyone.

I know it's been awhile. I can't blog for long, but I wanted to say happy blogiversary to me.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-8295645275778700912006-12-20T10:21:00.000-05:002006-12-20T10:31:38.322-05:00Mike and Dan have left and I am a putzMikey and Dan have left. A bit depressed over that. I tried to convince them that they could live in my pocket, but they wouldn't believe me. We do love those two so.

The baby was really starting to warm up to them toward the end as well. It was delightful to see. I have a photo album set up of their visit for those who want to her cuteness and the guys themselves.

In other news, I almost destroyed my computer with a knitting needle. I had started a sock on dpns and was picking up the free dpn to start the next round. It was late, and I fumbled, and the damn needle disappeared. We tore up the area around my computer to try to find it. No luck.

Just as I was planning another trip into Warner Robbins, site of the nearest mall. I hear Chris snicker. He points out to me my dpn sticking out of the one of the little holes that provide ventilation for my computer.

So I'm a putz. But I have been knitting socks, and that makes me a genius!A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-52761926252218043002006-12-16T09:29:00.000-05:002006-12-16T09:54:29.425-05:00Wonderful weekend and sheep wrap tipsWe have Mikey and Dan down for the weekend. Right now, Chris is showing them the farm while feeding cows. I have been assured that they will have a good time. In the mean time I've been trying to check my email while Freesia drives me nuts.

I did finish the Tawanda for Dan. It is a bright purple scarf/shawl called a sheep wrap. It is pretty easy with the right application of stitch markers. I placed a stitch marker on both sides of the center stitch then added one on either side every 25 stitches. It really helped the wrap go quicker because I wasn't constantly recounting.

Well, must go feed the monst... uhm, Freesia. Yeah, that's what I meant.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-91149198208768211062006-12-11T09:07:00.000-05:002006-12-11T09:26:32.230-05:00Weird and creepySo on the Chris front, we compromised. What can I say he is a tribble. Then it turns out the people we were going to invite over couldn't make it. Go figure.

But today's post is about something else. Something I haven't really felt comfortable writing about until I saw this week's post on Raising Violet at babycenter.com. There are times I feel somewhat uncomfortable with how much I love Freesia.

Let me rephrase. There are times when I feel uncomfortably in love with Freesia, like romatically. I'll be holding her, and she'll kiss me and give me a hug. I'll return it in kind and snuggle her close, and realize that I'm breathing in her smell and it's making my heart beat a little harder. Then I feel kind of icky as I realize that it's the same thing I do when I hug Chris.

Violet's mom (can't remember her name) goes on to say she had heard about how the mother/child relationship can feel romantic before she gave birth but she never understood it. I had heard the some of the same, but never realized what it would mean.

So there are times that I really do feel slightly out of whack when I'm playing with Freesia and I do something that sparks those emotions. I would never harm her that way, but it's like the potential is there. Or rather, if I were a different person who had that tendency, I might be tempted. It does change how I feel about other's playing with Freesia. I'm always watching for something inappropriate. I can see why there was that push during the middle of the twentieth century for mother's not to hold their children.

Completely stupid, since children need to be held and played with, but I can see why men felt uncomfortable about it.

But that's an entirely different post. Thanks for listening.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-52188159875695611302006-12-08T14:21:00.000-05:002006-12-08T14:32:26.584-05:00Wow! I'm so steamed.I love my husband, I really do, but sometimes he just says the wrong thing, and I just want to kill him. Today, he made a snarky comment when I told him I had planned on us doing some of the heavier cleaning that hadn't gotten done yet on Sunday. So I told him fine. He could do what he wanted, but I was cleaning that day. I didn't care what he was doing, and if he wanted to have people over, I would just clean around them tool.

Sometimes I just really want to kill something. Anything. I know that I make most of the plans around here, but that's because Chris lives in a house that doesn't have drawers.

Okay, let me explain. Chris can be unpacking a box, or cleaning off a surface, and he'll start to look at something. He'll spend twice the time it took him to unpack or pick up the piece of paper/book/magazine/plate/shiny thing looking at it, then he'll put it down on a shelf, back on the surface he found it on (like our dining room table), or back in the box because the place its going isn't ready yet.

We have guests coming people, and I really want to be able to eat at my dining room table. Freesia is getting too big for her high chair.

So I told him, he can do what he wants. I don't care. But I'll be cleaning. And if he thinks I'm going to just clean around him, then he's got another thing coming.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-9336589568643334342006-12-02T15:35:00.000-05:002006-12-02T15:36:43.707-05:00Just a FYIMy knitting web album is up, and I'll be adding some code to the site that hopefully will allow you to see the pictures at the bottom of the page, or the side bar, I haven't decided yet.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-80515130967020324552006-12-02T08:52:00.000-05:002006-12-02T08:57:53.688-05:00Oh, my goddess! For a moment, blogger forgot I had switched over this blog. I fought for a good twenty minutes to get this blog back. Whew!

Anyway, things are moving apace here. We will be doing some X-mas shopping this evening, but I'm afraid that for the most part, not many people will be getting toys. I need to talk to Chris but we will probably be sending an email to the relevant people letting them know not to get us anything this year, since we won't be able to reciprocate.

Especially since I'm not doing the late X-mas gift thing this year. I do plan to knit some things for myself next year. I have my eyes on a shawl, and possibly a hat to match. As well as a wrap shirt from Big Girl Knits.

Well, that's all for now, cause Freesia is demanding I attend her :D.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-6304791726904132782006-12-02T01:32:00.000-05:002006-12-02T01:45:10.144-05:00A new format for a new year.I finally let myself be talked into the new Blogger beta. I don't know if I like it, but I do like anything that will allow me to tag posts without all the coding. I hate coding.

In other news, I've started Tawanda--Mikey knows what I mean. There may eventually be pictures. And as for pictures, I finally found a way to upload pictures to the web without my dial up clunking out on me. Check out the side bar, or click here.

Anyway, just updating to let everyone know what's up. Expect a knitting album to show up there sometime soon.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1164917903800428102006-11-30T14:51:00.000-05:002006-11-30T15:18:23.866-05:00So now the month is overAnd I'm sure you have all been waiting with bated breath. Well, I didn't make it. My novella is 33,909 words. It is actually a complete story, but we did fall short by over 15k words. <sigh> Still it's the longest thing I've ever written, and I think it's turned into a fairly solid horror novel. It still needs a lot of work, but I'm thinking after say two or three drafts, I might have something worth sending around.

In the knitting arena, I actually got around to knitting a couple of teddy bears. One went to Killian, my newest nephew, and the other will be going into the toys for tots program. And in other news my spinning table/wheel is almost done. It's a modified treadle sewing machine we found in one of the chicken houses they use for storage here on the farm. And speaking of the farm, I've got some pictures I'm giong to try uploading, but apparently this takes hours with a dial up connection. I'll try later tonight or this weekend.

Anyway, y'all take care.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1162996592910340682006-11-08T09:32:00.000-05:002006-11-08T09:36:32.926-05:00Well still writingI actually caught up a bit with myself. I did an extra day's work yesterday, so I'm only two days behind.

But enough about that. Can anyone say, "Woot, go Democrats?"A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1162910340331956542006-11-07T09:36:00.000-05:002006-11-07T09:39:00.350-05:00Bad writers don't get cookiesI didn't write last night. Not for any particular reason, just got distracted by several things. Also, I'm afraid to look at my word count calculator, since I'm now a total of three days behind.

I'm also really kind of disturbed by my novel. Can a writer get too grossed out by their own novel?

Reasurrances are welcome.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1162825683208559592006-11-06T10:02:00.000-05:002006-11-06T10:08:03.223-05:00So still trucking alongSo the word count is currently at around 5700 words for the NaNoWriMo. Originally, this novel was supposed to be a scifi novel, but I scrapped everything on the second day and started over. <sigh>The idea is actually something that has been running around in my head for awhile, so I'm hoping that everyone who reads it will enjoy it, even though I haven't actually done a back story for it, and have no idea how long it's actually going to be. I'm giong to try to limit it at 50,000 since that is essentially what the process is about. I can always add in stuff later if I need to.

Well, I have to go. I've put myself on an internet diet so that I won't spend time I could be writing aimlessly wondering.

See ya later, kiddies.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1162619938307417522006-11-04T00:53:00.000-05:002006-11-04T00:58:58.320-05:00Nanowrimo and other thingsWell, I haven't posted in awhile I know, but I did want to wait until I got a picture of the person I gave the sheep wrap I knitted too. But it looks like that is hit or miss, so I thought I would talk about Nanowrimo instead.

I had a perfectly good idea. Solid sci fi story complete with back story that I completely ditched on day 2. So I have 38oo words of a horror story going, and at least I'm not far behind, don't ya know.

Well, it's late, I'm about to go to bed as soon as Return of the King is over.

Take care out there in web land.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20087590.post-1161833023814219702006-10-25T23:12:00.000-04:002006-10-25T23:23:43.840-04:00Arrgggh! Where is the yarn?So the front room actually looks like a living room now. No boxes, and everything squared away. However, after a couple of days of neglect, the kitchen is a war zone. It won't take long to get it squared away, however.

Now I just need to find the yarn. I can't believe I haven't unpacked it yet. With temperatures dropping, I was going to knit Freesia some leg warmers so she could still wear her dresses along with some felted booties for to wear in the morning to keep her feet warm.

I also have some socks I was going to knit for my dad, and a few other things, but now I can't find my yarn. It is somewhere in the depths of the walk in closet that we have yet to excavate. I know my wool is there--it's driving me crazy. Especially since I found a pattern for a teletubby doll, and Freesia loves the teletubbies.

Oh, goddess, what am I going to do when the only project that is accessable to me is done? I'm going to go into knitting overload, or unpacking overload. One or the other.A'tuinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730360381373499183noreply@blogger.com0
